“Hip Hop, Cities and Spaces” Ft. Ateneo. Hip Hop as a tool for tactical urbanism and the regeneration of Rome’s suburbs. The panel explores how rap, graffiti, dance, and cinema rewrite the social map, transforming marginalized areas into spaces for gathering and collective memory. It will explore the transition from “residual” public space to a common good returned to citizens. The goal is to legitimize artistic activism as a driver of active citizenship and democratic participation in the local area.

Presentation of the book Made With Italy by Giuseppe Nexus Gatti:
The presentation explores the unprecedented impact of the Italian diaspora on the genesis and canonization of American hip hop (1967-1997). From a transcultural perspective, the author analyzes how Italianness has been creatively incorporated into languages such as graffiti, breaking, and street fashion, using cinema as a privileged lens of inquiry. The talk discusses the re-signification of the “Made in Italy” image within transnational media cultures, offering new theoretical tools for the “double H science.” This is a crucial moment for reconnecting the historical roots of Italian identity with the evolution of a global aesthetic and sonic heritage.

Presentazione del libro Made With Italy di Giuseppe Nexus Gatti:

Closing Party: “Vinyl Only – Latin Flava.” A journey through Latin rhythms and hip-hop influences, curated by DJ Hernia (with special guests from Naples, Pescara, and Barcelona).
The closing party, “Vinyl Only – Latin Flava,” curated by DJ Hernia (Venezuela), celebrates the inextricable link between Latin rhythmic roots and the evolution of hip-hop culture. The evening, performed exclusively on vinyl, offers a sonic journey from Afro-Caribbean percussion to New York breakbeats, breaking down every barrier between performer and audience. The set will be enriched by a unique immersive experience: the distribution of live percussion to attendees, transforming the audience into a collective and spontaneous orchestra. This interaction transforms the DJ set into a community ritual of active participation, where rhythm becomes the universal language closing the festival.
